I’m Mikayla.

I’ve always been drawn to the process of creating. What keeps me coming back to art is its ability to hold and reveal new perspectives. This being a human thing can be muddy and painful and in the same breath, gratifying and incredibly beautiful. Art can hold all of that.

As an art therapist, I view the creative process of art-making as a way for clients to deepen self-knowledge, reconnect with their inner child, understand patterns and behaviours, honour and process lived experiences, and re-author their own narratives. The healing properties of the arts can help clients unfold and integrate parts of themselves that have been crumpled up.

Whether you’re looking to tend to old wounds, reestablish balance in your life, process and release challenging experiences—or if you don’t know what you’re looking for— art therapy can be a supportive guide.
